Art and Conflict Symposium

2nd-3rd May 2015 (CfP extended until April 15th)

Examining the impact of war on society through artistic and scientific representation. Can art push science to help to find the truth and aid reconciliation? Can science and art help historical memory and the coming to terms with the impact of conflict?

The following sessions will include podium presentations, art work, performances, photography and documentaries on the following:

  1. 1)  Civil Wars – Artistic manifestations of the dead, memory, scientific investigation of mass graves

  2. 2)  The missing – Remembering, searching and identifying the missing

  3. 3)  Past Conflicts – music and poetry in war time

  4. 4)  Open session and discussion – Working Group: Art and Conflict

    The symposium also includes a performance 5 Soldiers directed by Rosie Kay Dance Company
